Cheating, Dishonesty & Manipulation: Why Bright Kids Do It

Join us for an exploration on the startling phenomenon of gifted cheating, dishonesty, and manipulation. More than 80% of bright and gifted students self-report that they have cheated in an academic setting, and many are never caught. More importantly, most are never offered the support and structure they need to overcome the underlying causes of their manipulation and deceit, which often include deep and crippling boredom, a lack of appropriate challenges, a desire to fit in, fear of failure, and avoidance. Together we’ll address how parents, teachers, and administrators can help gifted and creative children avoid maladaptive habits and develop healthy ones.
